I'm in the market for new phone and service provider through the weekend and have narrowed my choice down to Verizon or Cingular AT & T. I've had both services in the past and have not really had any complaints about either. I was looking for a pretty basic plan, not too like. I am a little cool gadget junkie, so the phone is quite important. Here's what I found.
AT & T
- Plans - Plans in the range that is very similar to Verizon, there is no difference
- Phone - Had them up, and cheaper, more online options. I came the day after the release of iPhone, and they clearly sold. I do not want to spend a quite a lot, but after playing with a model in the store, I probably would have caved if one is in stock.
- Customer Service - CRAP. I went to the same AT & T store every time and always busy, so no surprises there. I meandered (yes, meandered) save at least about 15 minutes but is very busy, I can not speak to AT & T representative. From previous experience, people in the store as useful as AT & T will let them. Unfortunately, AT & T to make your problem more directly, questions, etc through their phone system is horrific.
- Plans - Plan on Verizon with a very similar price. The only difference in 5000 is not the end of the night and weekends at the AT & T (which I will never use), I get unlimited night and weekend at Verizon.
- Phone - No iPhone here but thats probably a good thing for my wallet. Verizon offers several interesting features such as mobile TV and navigation available for the cost. Verizon phone similar to the AT & T but offers several additional services, if you subscribe.
- Customer Service - MUCH better than AT & T. First of all, we are greeted at the door. Verizon store that has been equally as busy as AT & T, but they must have atleast 10 people to work than the 4 or 5 at the AT & T on the day after the biggest events in the history of the company. Seriously ... how you only have 5 people working on the day after the iPhone was launched? I work with Verizon represents the entire time. He sounded like they were not allowed to help other customers until you are finished with them. I see it after that if they do not have any staff available to help you, they put your name on the list, so they can assist the community in order to something that is very irritating at the top of AT & T. On the back of the Verizon store, they also have a technical support desk that I had never heard of. You can actually bring the phone to the store, and they are trying to improve there. I've probably sent 5 AT & T to get a return phone or fixed trading update for the phone. My sister-in-law who was with us, have experienced problems with the button. He brought us in and out to update the phone right in the place. That would be nice.
